Cecile Grant, one of our ECQG members, will have her truck at our meeting on Wednesday to collect items we can/have donated. (I will quote from a friend who spoke so eloquently about Cecile and her work) "Let me tell you about the wonderful work that Cecile Grant does for the Rooming House that is above Isacs Way Restaurant downtown. This is a 32 room rooming house, and the people who live there are one step away from homelessness and are very needy. Cecile Grant ,has been collecting things for the rooming house for some time. She works closely with the administrator of the rooming house, and not so much directly with the roomers. She brings things over in her truck usually once a week. When a person who lives in the rooming house, and does well enough to get a better place to live, they take everything with them. This leaves the rooming house always in need of things to help out new roomers. Cecile also takes food from people she knows. For example, if you bought salad dressing or cereal, and didn't like it, even though it's opened, she will take it. Same goes for shampoo, conditioner, laundry soap, personal items, hotel toilietries etc, are all very much appreciated. Since winter is coming, she is looking for jackets, mens clothes, womens clothes, shoes, boots, underwear.. (yes, I said underwear), mittens, scarves, socks etc. They are in particular need of chairs. Each room is sparce to start with, but they try to at least have a chair, so any donations of chairs will be appreciated. Also, since there is only one small kitchen, they need trays that a resident can take down their things to the kitchen, cook it, then bring it back up to their room to eat. So, there you go. When I see Cecile doing this work, I'm so happy somebody does this work and I always try to support her. Before you ever throw things out, think of the work that Cecile does!” Let us support Cecile and the generous work that she does. See you all on Wednesday at or before 7pm, Kathy
