Saturday Workshop with our sister Guild- The Akerley Guild!

Some members of ECQG that signed up for this particular workshop had a great time meeting and sewing with new friends from the Akerely Guild.  The travellers arrived and set up their sewing gear for the 9am workshop, as did our local members.  What fun!

The teacher for this mystery workshop was Cathy Hachey, a member of ECQG and a well organized super teacher.   Cathy had step by step instructions and several samples in various phases.  Great job!

The workshop was a mystery, even to those of us who cut our own kits.  A big thank you to Marj Deveau who made 16 kits for our visitors.  It was a great day and a surprise to me until after lunch when the finished project was revealed.

Along with the kits and fun, lunch was provided an it was YUMMY!!!!!  Thank you to all of the contributors, and to the Program committee Linda Boudreau and Pat Kennedy, who manned the kitchen and kept us on the straight and narrow, like when I wanted boiling water, turned up the kettle and was told the kettle contained tea!  Who knew, not me.   So, thank you!  Pat also made several announcements, and passed out gift cookbooks to the Akerley Guild members who attended.

After lunch was a quick show and tell, and here are a few pictures provided by Marj D, Pat K and  Kathy F,  for your viewing pleasure.  We had fun seeing Akerley's robins, the KV Quilt Show's Modern Quilt (Brenda) winners #1,@ and 3.  Pat's 80th birthday quilt depicting her life...just brilliant!  Some quilt photos are repeated, some are out of order, and some are missing altogether, but just enjoy the show!

This is our Frex quilt shown by Sandra!!

After an short afternoon sewing stint some were finished their projects, but most went home knowing how to finish and enjoy our own mystery all finished.  Here are some "almost completed" and completed projects.

They were all beautiful, and no doubt you will see some at Wednesday night's ECQG 7pm meeting!!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO CATHY HACHEY!

Frex Quilt is finished for another year

  Hi all,

Below is the Frex quilt that we all contributed blocks to during last winter's guild meetings.  How intent and professional do Dianne and Debbie look?

2 of our many quilters hard at work on the Frex quilt.

The photo below is from the booth at the FREX at the end of the week when our raffle quilt was finished and a new quilt was put on the frame.  By my count, there were about 45-50 members who attended to quilt or sell tickets.

Sandra and Kim were the consistent faces but many others came regularly and helped.  Thank you to all who participated by making blocks, quilting or helping with ticket sales.  Thank you to Sandra, who despite cataract surgery just before the FREX, managed to get the booth set up and attended nightly to quilt.  Thank you to Kim - we all try to sell tickets but Kim, you are a natural born salesperson!   We will wait to hear the ticket tally at a upcoming meeting.

Dianne Kelly, ECQG Coordinator

Lovely, easy to see markings on this, the 2nd quilt.

Both Quilts are lovely and we will all look forward to seeing the completed product.  Remember too that tickets are still available for the first quilt in this posting through ECQG.

Have a great, finally sunny, day.

Kathy

Won't make it to Show and Tell!

Good morning!

Here is a photo of Wendy McLean's bright and beautiful quilt that she showed at the Workday yesterday.  It won't be at Show and Tell as Wendy rarely gets to attend a meeting.

Love it!

Salsa!!

Here is a note from member Lucy B.

"FYI - if anyone out there has excess tomatoes and want to try a recipe from

our guild cookbook - Susan Mayo's Salsa recipe is yummy!  I made it today
and have been eating it like ice cream all day (well, not exactly!).  But it
is very good."

A great endorsement I would say, thanks Lucy.
